This is an open class which may be suitable for those who have experienced hand-building and basic throwing skills. The tutor will manage the diversity of experience through individual guidance and support.
For those who have no prior experience of working with clay, we recommend the Ceramics courses for Beginners.
Included in the course costs are 3.5kg of clay, glazing and firing. Additional clay is charged at £10 per kg. See Terms and Conditions.

Hand
building
Developing your hand-building skills to make constructions that are precise and well-refined. Use slips, sgraffito and carving methods to finish your work.
Throwing
Develop your basic throwing and turning skills - move on to making bowls, throwing “off-the-hump” and working with lids.
Glazing
Learn the fundamental components of the chemistry of glazing that generate a unique and beautiful glazed form.

Alison Hannah
Experienced teacher and practicing ceramic artist. Alison is a skilled thrower and hand-builder. Alison is an experienced teacher working with young people for over 25 years. She specialises in developing individuality to her work in preparing unique and hand-painted decorated forms.
