Training and Development Policy

The Clay Yard aims to provide a range of opportunities for all employees and volunteers to develop qualities, competencies and knowledge relating to the teaching and delivery of ceramics. Progression and development of individuals may take shape in the following ways

  • Observation of practice of experienced tutors

  • Access to borrow from The Clay Yard reference library

  • Participation in workshops and attendance at demonstrations

  • Development of cooperative and collaborative participation

A quarterly routine review of practice and appraisal of practice takes place with employees and volunteers are encouraged to express ares in which The Clay Yard can better support their training needs. Where relevant a training plan will be developed in discussion with the employee identifying key skills development, aspirations and resourcing required to support the outcomes of the training plan.
