Pit Firing Experience
Explore and extend your experience of working with pottery. Make, burnish, fire and finish your pots over four 2.5hr sessions at The Clay Yard. This project is in collaboration with artist Mandy Race.
When: 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th April 2023 16:00 to 18:00
Cost: £115 per person (includes materials and booking fee)
Make
Using coiling techniques or throwing on the wheel, create your stoneware form.
Compact the surface of the pot to give a polished finish using spoons or pebbles.
Burnish
Wrap your pot in a variety of colour-enhancing materials to add colour and interest ready for pit-firing.
Fire
Cooled work is cleaned and finished. Celebrate and compare your work together.
Finish
