Ceramics for Beginners
These classes are suitable for those with limited experience of working with clay. Working under the guidance of experienced tutors and ceramicists you will gain a broad range of hand-building, throwing on the potters wheel and decorative and finishing skills.
Included in the course costs are 4kg of clay, glazing and firing. Additional clay is charged at £2.50 per kg.See Terms and Conditions.

HANDBUILDING
THROWING
GLAZING
Working to shape the clay by pinching, coiling and rolling, you will learn the fundamentals of hand-building to construct a range of ceramics.
Learning how to centre the clay on the wheel and to shape simple cylinders by lifting the clay. Following on with turning to refine and shape the form.
You will learn how to dip and pour glazes on to bisque fired work in order to produce the decorative finish to the pots.

Experienced teacher and practicing ceramic artist. Alison is a skilled thrower and hand-builder.
Julia Toy
Julia has taught Art and Ceramics in both schools and in a studio setting. An experienced thrower, hand-builder and forager of clay.
